Location sharing
Learn how KinVerra uses foreground location for account security, staff activity and city names, and how to manage device permissions.
Why we ask
Location helps secure your account and shows where account and staff activity takes place. Staff must allow fresh device location to use Back Office. Customers can choose Allow or Disallow.
What is collected
While the app is open, we collect occasional device coordinates, accuracy and capture time. Coordinates are rounded to about 100 metres before storage. We do not request background location or continuously track movement. Device readings can be inaccurate or spoofed; they do not prove physical presence.
City names
Your device may supply city names. Otherwise it sends its current coordinates directly to BigDataCloud’s free service before uploading the result to KinVerra. BigDataCloud observes the device IP and uses anonymous GPS-to-IP signals to improve its location data. We send no KinVerra account identifiers or authentication tokens to that service. Only city, region and country names are kept; an unavailable lookup leaves coordinates visible.
Permissions and access
Customers can stop sharing in Profile & settings or device permissions. Staff can change device permissions at any time; Back Office access remains blocked until a fresh location is shared. Other customers’ locations and historical coordinates are never submitted to the free lookup service.
Activity and retention
A shared sample is used for up to 15 minutes. Withdrawing sharing clears the current session sample when the server receives the request. Location already recorded in activity history follows the access and retention rules in our Privacy policy. Approximate IP geography may still be used where available and is distinguished from device location.
